This review is from: FRYE Women's Carson Oxford (Apparel) From my experience, the shoe size runs pretty big. I am normally a size 7 1/2 and I had to place a return and put in for an exchange for a size 7. I got this shoe in fawn and black and I am able to wear both to work in a business casual attire environment with slacks or a cute dress or out for a day of walking around and shopping downtown in jeans. I love these shoes for their comfort and looks. I highly recommend them- for their price, it's definitely worth it!I am following up on my review, and still love my oxfords. I wanted to add, I am short (5'2) so I tend to steer away from flats or shoes with a heel height of less than an inch and a half. This review is from: FRYE Women's Carson Oxford (Apparel) Is it strange that I desire the "menswear" look but also want it to be a bit "girly?" The Frye Carson oxfords have a stacked heel which makes it just slightly more girly than the cap-toed, flat Erin oxford (which I also own). However, to many female coworkers I've asked, the Carson oxfords are well made, "expensive looking", but also decidedly "manly."I think I'll still keep them. They're comfortable, possibly my most comfortable shoes after my sneakers. And they are a good change from my typical black work shoe. A few things people might consider: -The other reviews mention the "long pointed toe." I don't agree, though I would say these have a sort of "boot-like" appearance. as one previous reviewer said, when worn with pants these shoes look like boots peeking from beneath the hem. So I would not call these business suit shoes, not by a long shot. But, good for semi-casual work environment. -The color I purchased was "Tan" and it's lighter than I anticipated. Not as yellow as the Caterpillar boot but nowhere near your usual brown. Sand, maybe? Fawn? A very muted brown. I would have gotten the Cognac but it wasnt in my size at the low price. Sometimes the Tan color bothers me a bit, but coming from my monochromatic background any color but black would bother me, ha. -The laces are black. This coupled with the light color shoe = quirky. Maybe vintagey look? If you're wearing a pretty dress then wearing these shoes with the dark laces will definitely spoil the look (unless you're going for quirky). But they're great with jeans, pants. -I was alarmed at first to see the soles looked like they'd melted, but some googling revealled they're intentionally "distressed." But who cares about the soles of a shoe (unless its a Louboutin), right? They weren't slippery, unlike the Erins which slip and slide on every surface. So, overall great shoe. 4 out of 5 because I still think they're a bit manly for me. My foot is a little wide- but the it is true to size and VERY comfortable- LOVE them! The quality construction will probably last for many, many years to come and they are timeless...I GIVE IT A 4.5! |
