I no longer have the pain on the bottom of my feet that has plagued me for 30 years. Things got worse when I fell down the stairs five years ago injuring my foot as it smacked each stair as I went down the flight, if you can picture it, the top of my foot slamming down at each step across the top for five or so stairs, before I finally hit the landing on my knees. I was darn near crippled with pain after that on the top of my foot. So I needed shoes that laced up tight, and had very good support. I also really doubted that the sole construction could make that much of a difference, but the rocking motion that the shape of the sole encourages corrected my gait immediately and I have not had the foot pain since I started wearing these shoes.I walk three miles each night and run in spurts during the walk, in these shoes, and was amazed when I did not get the shin splints that I have always gotten when running in regular tennis shoes as I have had in the past. That was truly amazing. Then there are all the compliments that I have received on them. Total strangers have commented on them, and women who normally would not talk to me have asked me about my shoes, complimenting me on the look and the style. I love the rose embossing, though for someone with narrow feet, I did not like the look of how wide these shoes are, so I was very surprised at all of the compliments. I tell them my story of the pain going away and everyone seems to know someone who has foot pain of some kind or another, and they write the name of the shoe down. I did not know what my size would be in European sizes so I found a shoe store 200 miles away from my home that carries these. I tried on every Alegria shoe style they had and with the fall down the stairs injury, I had to have this lace up oxford, none of the other styles did the trick for me. Size 37 was perfect for a narrow size 7. I would suggest that you do that, know which size and style are right for you before purchasing online. My only regret is that I wish I would have purchased two pairs so that I could switch every other day to allow the foam insole to recover, which would have added life to the shoes. Wearing the shoes every day, all day, to work and play in, the inner sole was compressed within six weeks, so I had to put insoles inside of the shoe. The only reason this is an issue with me, is that my narrow long foot, the shoe became loose when my foot settled in and I could not cinch the laces tight enough. Someone else with wider feet will not have this problem, though I would still recommend buying two pairs to prolong the life of the shoes. The leather is wonderful. I had scuffed them pretty bad as I use them for everyday wear, and a little brown shoe polish brought them back to new. I do have to be careful because of the lift of the sole, a few times I have walked off the edge of a sidewalk or stepped on an uneven surface and lost my balance, falling. I did that anyway before, so it is not a new issue for me, but it is something to be cautious about. Watch where you step and you will be fine. I was worried about running in them for that reason, but had no problem as I chose not to run on gravel or uneven surfaces. These shoes will be in my closet forever. I love them. They gave me the quality of life back that has been gone because of feet pain. You know i Love Love Love these shoes!!!!!! I went to different websites in hopes of the abbi black rose patent becoming available on sale. With no luck after a couple of months i could not resist!!! Now that i have the actual shoe in hand these alegrias where all worth the money!!! Tell alegria ill do a commercial!! Lol! Like WOW they are the cutest with the most comftorable fit. This review is from: Alegria Women's Abbi Oxford (Apparel) These shoes have a lot going for them. The black embossing is unique and pretty. The insoles are comfortable. And they stay on my feet and don't cause me to trip all over myself like Danskos tend to do. They are very tight on your foot, so your foot doesn't roll around in them while you're walking, but I can imagine the tightness be a problem for anyone who has especially wide feet or feet with really high arches. The only problem I've had with them so far is that they make a kind of soft "clomping" sound while your walking. |
